Born Shaun Mark Bean, in Sheffield on the 17th of April 1969. As an actor he changed the spelling of his name to Sean.

From a young age he always wanted to be a footballer but unfortunately, as a child he smashed a glass door (due to an argument over a pair of scissors) which ended with a piece of glass embedded in his left leg, leaving a large scar and briefly impeded his walking.

He later fulfilled his childhood ambition of playing football at his beloved Bramhall Lane, home of Sheffield United Football Club, starring in the film “When Saturday Comes”.
