I am a major fan of ITV’s Dancing On Ice show. I have watched the last two series religiously. Two of the profesional skaters make it really worth while watching the show week in and week out. They are Andrei Lipanov & Fred Palascak.

Unfortunately, they both went out of the series quite early on this time due to the fact they were given really rubbish partners. The only saving grace was when Michael Underwood fell and broke his foot, which was quite unfortunate for him, but not for me as he was replaced by ex Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams and Fred Palascak.

Not that I wan’t anyone else to get injured but I have been praying for some kind of substitution to be made which would bring back Andrei.

Andrei Lipanov was born in Saint Petersburg on the 12th April 1976 and began to skate when he was a young child. In 1982 he won bronze medals at international tournaments in Russia and Korea. In 1984 during the Winter Games he won the junior title in Russia. He joined the professional skaters of the UK version of Dancing on Ice for its second series, in 2007 in which he partnered actress Clare Buckfield, and achieved the joint top score of 29.5 (out of 30) twice in the finals. They were voted second by the British public, beaten by rugby player Kyran Bracken.

He is also married to Susie Lipanova another of the Dancing On Ice prefessional skaters and they have a son together. She is one very lucky lady!!!

Fred was born in Parma Ohio and started skating at the tender age of just 2 ½! When he was 15 he qualified to compete in his first U.S. National Figure Skating Championships – forsaking all other sporting commitments to focus his energy solely into skating. He met fellow skater Melanie Lambert in 1994 as the two went head-to-head in the US National Championships and later that year they became skating partners! The duo went on to become Eastern Champions and later were placed 4th in the Nationals. In 1999 Fred and Melanie both turned professional and embarked on a series of professional shows such as Holiday On Ice, Disney On Ice and Nutcracker On Ice.
