The Tefal Quick Cup, How Good Is It?
Have you ever been gasping for a cup of tea but can’t be bothered to boil up the kettle? This time is over thanks to Quick Cup, an extraordinary invention that serves hot or cool water in 3 seconds. It only heats the water you need and uses only a third of the energy of an ordinary kettle – so a great time, energy and money saver.
This is exactly what it says about the new Tefal Quick Cup on the Tefal Website. However having purchased one just yesterday I really do not think that it is as good as it makes out. Now I am not saying that the idea isn’t great…It is! It just doesn’t work as well as I think it should.
The main reason for me buying the Quick Cup were:
1. Energy Saving product: it consumes only 1/3 the energy of a standard kettle.
2. Opti-Quick heating system for hot and cold water in 3 seconds.
3. Flowstop system: Manual or automatic flow which pours the water into your cup so no lifting of a boiling kettle required.
4. The Tefal Quick Cup only heats the amount of water that you need so there is not a kettle of boiling water sitting around cooling down.
The main problems that I have found with mine is:
1. The Opti-Quick heating system does not boil the water, just heats it so really your water is been nuked and not boiled therefore giving you a warm cup of coffee or tea and not a boiling cup of coffee or tea.
2. The hot water does not pour gently into you cup or mug, it splutters and splatters all over and as your tea or coffee gets higher up the cup, then your tea or coffee will inevitably end up splattered along the work surface around your cup.
3. The noise, it churns and gurgles and vibrates so much that If you got up in the middle of the night for a lovely hot beveridge then you would also have to invite half your street in for a cup also as it would most definately wake them up.
As I have said, this would be a really great kitchen appliance if it didn’t have the above little problems with it. I also own the Tefal Aquaspeed Ultracord – FV5260 Iron, which is absolutely brilliant, so this isn’t a personal vendetta against Tefal.
Hopefully if they bring out a future model of the Tefal Quick Cup it will be perfect.
