Born John Christopher Depp II on the 9th of June 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. He is best known for playing the roles of eccentric characters like Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Ichabod Crane in the film adaptation of Sleepy Hollow. His first major role was in the 1984 horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street, playing the heroine’s boyfriend and one of Freddy’s victims. In 1986, he also appeared in a secondary role as a Vietnamese-speaking private in Oliver Stone’s Platoon. He also starred along side Mary Stuart Masterson, Aidan Quinn (who is just gorgeous) in my all time favourite Depp movie Benny and Joon, where once again he played an eccentric man who models himself after Buster Keaton.

The list of film’s he has been in is endless and include hits such as: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands.

He also owns a 45-acre island in the Bahamas. He said on The Late Show with David Letterman that Marlon Brando advised him on how to evaluate and successfully purchase the island; Brando was his co-star in Don Juan DeMarco, one of Brando’s last films.

Along with Sean Penn, John Malkovich and Mick Hucknall, Depp co-owns the Parisian restaurant-bar Man Ray, located near the Champs-Élysées
