The Sound Of Music House To Become A Hotel
Made famous by Hollywood hit film “The Sound of Music” the former home of the von Trapp family is being turned into a hotel. The hotel is to be named “The Villa Trapp hotel” and visitors to the hotel will be able to sleep in the family’s former bedrooms or get married in the chapel. The hotel and surrounding park just outside Salzburg, Austria, will open to the public in July and will cost around 100 euros (£80) a night.
The von Trapp family lived in the house from 1923 before fleeing the Nazi takeover of Austria in 1938. In 1956 the true story of Maria, the aspiring Nun who sang her way into the hearts of Baron von Trapp and his seven children was made into a movie based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, it starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
At least it is going to be made into something that people can use for years to come that fans of the film can visit, unlike quite a lot of the set used in the movie “Dirty Dancing” which was flattened to make way for a golf course apparently.
