Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Is Over
After breaking 35 world records and 85 Olympic records the Beijing 2008 Olympics has come to an end. The Beijing 2008 slogan “One world one dream” has totally summed up the last 16 days for me, as I have avidly watched athletes from around the world compete from venues such as the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, The National Stadium (The Birdsnest) and The National Aquatics Center (The Water Cube).

The cyclist Chris Hoy carried the British flag as all the nations of athletes arrived in the centre of the Birdsnest Stadium for the closing ceremony. The Olympic flag was handed over to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson from the Guo Jinlong, the Mayor of Beijing via the IOC president Jacques Rogge followed by an 8 minute performance by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

Which featured a London Bus which was driven through The National Stadium, and then (like a transformer) the top peeled away to reveal the outline of London. Leona Lewis and Led Zepplin guitarist, Jimmy Page performed “Whole Lotta Love” and then David Beckham appeared to a huge cheer from the crowd, wearing a London 2012 tracksuit and kicked a football into the crowd of athletes, there was a slight scramble but one very lucky athlete got a hold of the ball and with the biggest grin on his face you just knew that he would never ever let that ball go again.
