Stand Up To Cancer

su2clogo.jpgAs the stars gathered on Friday night for the “stand Up To Cancer” charity telethon, the TV viewers definitely stood up to cancer as total donations raised for research to battle the disease past the $100 million mark.

“One hundred percent of the more than $100 million raised will go directly to funding the research programs necessary to battle this insidious disease,” said Paulsen in a statement Sunday that accompanied the announcement.

Jack Black, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry and Keanu Reeves, as well as presidential nominees John McCain and Barack Obama were among the celebrities participating in the show which was live from Los Angeles. It also featured music by performers such as James Taylor, Sheryl Crow and Josh Groban.

Cancer apparently kills 550,000 Americans and six million people worldwide each year and so the more money which can be raised to help and find a cure for this horrible disease the better. Lets hope the celebs keep helping these events to raise awareness and money, Its definitely for a worthwhile cause for a change!
